We recently vacationed at our Home-Away-From-Home, The Villas in the Dominican Republic, our very own tropical paradise.  From the very beginning of our trip, COVID safety was evident but unobtrusive.  There were discreet temperature checks and hand sanitizing stations throughout the resort, frequently sanitized rooms, and face mask requirements.  The COVID protocols that Lifestyle Resorts had in place for both staff and guests made us feel very safe and comfortable, and we had an amazing vacation!  
After taking my pre-flight COVID test, I was thrown the curveball of a positive test result on the day we were to fly home.   We were in a state of shock, as I exhibited no symptoms and we had not been in contact with someone with confirmed or suspected COVID-19 symptoms before traveling or throughout our vacation.  Though how, or even if, I contracted COVID was still a question for us, we were provided peace of mind throughout our quarantine period on property.   
We immediately returned to the beautiful Royal Villa we had been staying in with all processes and steps clearly outlined for us during our quarantine period.  Katy and Carlos, Management of The Villas, communicated with us every day, as to my health status, and any needs we might have.  From the initial notification of the positive result from Supervisor Ana Rodriguez, we were treated with compassion, professionalism, and respect from all the resort staff we interacted with throughout our quarantine period. 
Three full meals per day were delivered to our Villa at predetermined times.  The food was plentiful and provided a variety of hot, nutritious options for each meal.  Katy arranged for all follow-up testing through the Medical Clinic on-site, ensuring that all quarantine protocols were strictly enforced guaranteeing zero risks to the rest of the resort’s operations.  Delicious in-room dining, health screenings, and a few thoughtful amenities allowed our quarantine period to feel like a vacation in and of itself as we felt pampered in our very own Villa.
I continued to feel well, exhibiting no symptoms, so we were left to enjoy our beautiful Villa, pool, and ample covered patio area.  We spent our time swimming, reading, and simply relaxing in the Caribbean!  On day 14 after the initial COVID test was taken, I had repeat testing completed, with a subsequent negative result.  We were then able to move about the resort freely again, waiting for our arranged flights home.
At all times throughout the quarantine period, we felt completely supported and cared for by the resort.  We want to thank ALL involved in our extended stay – it actually turned out to be a GREAT experience!  Whether I had COVID or received a “false positive” is up for debate – but knowing that Lifestyle has all processes and procedures in place, just in case, should alleviate any travelers' concerns surrounding COVID-19.  I can say, without a doubt, that the effort it takes is well worth getting to spend some time in the Dominican Republic!
